You begin by placing a bet on the table. You will then receive two cards face up. The dealer will receive one card face up and one face down. The down card is called the "hole card" and will remain face down until you have completed your play.

If the dealer up card is an Ace, the insurance option will be offered. You may accept or decline this offer (see Insurance for details.) The dealer will then check for Blackjack (if the dealer's up-card is a 10-value card, the dealer hand will be checked without revealing the hole card.) If the dealer has Blackjack, play ends and your wager is lost, unless your hand also contains a Blackjack (resulting in a "push" or tie)

If there is no dealer Blackjack and you have a Blackjack, the dealer will not take any hits. You automatically win US$1.50 for every US$1 of your original wager.

If no Blackjack is present, you must decide whether to keep your hand as is ("stand"), or take additional cards in an attempt to increase the value of your hand. The decision to take an additional card is called a "hit" or a "draw." There is no limit to the number of hits you can take. If you "bust", by going over 21 while taking a hit, you lose and play is over. When you are done taking hits, you must "stand" and await the results of the dealer's hand.

Now it is the dealer's turn. First, the "hole card" will be revealed. If the dealer's hand totals 17 to 20, the dealer must stand. If the value is 16 or less, the dealer must take hits until the value of the hand is 17 or higher. If the dealer "busts" while taking additional cards, the dealer hand automatically loses.

If the value of your hand is closer to 21 than that of the dealer, you win an amount equal to your original bet. If the dealer's hand is better, you lose your bet. If the hands are of equal value the deal is a push and your money is returned.

After each game has been played, the used cards are shuffled back into the deck.

1 - Buy Bet Here you can guess that a certain number will be rolled before a 7. It's the same as a place bet but a Buy Bet pays true odds with a 5% charge with a win.
2 - Don't Come Bet Opposite of a 'Come Bet'. Odds are the same.
3 - Place Bet Here you can bet that a certain number will be rolled before a 7. The odds are 9:5 on a 4 and 10, 7:5 on a 5 and 9 and 7:6 on a 6 and 8 roll.
4 - Come Bet Is basically the same as the 'Pass Line Bet' but the bet is made after the shooter gets point. The shooters next roll then becomes this bets come out roll. This bet wins with 7 and 11 and loses with 2, 3 and 12. If another number is rolled then your counter is moved to the corresponding place (see number 10 on diagram) And for you to win a point must be regained before a 7 is rolled. The odds are 1:1.
5 - Field Bet Is where you bet if the outcome of the next roll will be a 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 or 12. Any other figures lose. 2:1 are the odds for 2 and 12, and the rest are 1:1.
6 - 6 & 8 You bet if a 6 or 8 will be rolled before the next 7. Odds are 1:1.
7 - Don't Pass Bet A simple bet, that the shooter does NOT win the game. The odds are 1:1.
8 - Pass Line Bet The simplest bet; you bet that the shooter wins the game. The odds are 1:1.
9 - Odds Bet This strengthens your 'Don't Pass Bet' or your 'Pass Line Bet' but this bet is made after point on the shooters come out roll. The odds are 2:1 for a 4 and 10, 3:" for a 5 and 9 roll and 6:5 for a 6 and 8 roll.
10 Number 10 corresponds with information in the 'Come Bet'.

To correctly guess which number will hit after the ball lands in one of the slots. There are many different types of bets in roulette, with different payouts; everything from a straight up bet at 35/1 odds to a bet on black/red at 1/1 odds.

Betting

Before you begin betting at the roulette table, you must purchase special roulette chips which are of different color. If there are 7 people playing at a table, there will be seven different colors of chips. This is so that the dealer knows who bet on what and can keep the payments straight. The dealer will normally give the players 60 seconds to put their bets down, and players can still lay down bets when the ball is moving and not dropped into one of the slots. When a player leaves the table, they can cash in the roulette chips for regular chips.

There are two different types of bets in roulette: inside bets and outside bets. Inside bets are made on the layout, or number grid. For instance, if you wanted to bet on a 4 landing on the next spin of the wheel, you would place an inside bet. An outside bet takes part on the outside of the table, outside of the layout. These types of bets include red/black, high number / low number and even/odd bets.

The Inside Bets are:

Straight Up Bet - betting on a single number. For instance, you place a chip on 20 and the ball lands in the 20 slot. Your $10 bet returns $350 in this case.

Split Bet - Betting on two numbers by placing a chip on the line separating two different numbers. For instance, you could place a split bet on 31 and 34. If either number hits, your $10 bet returns $170.

Corner Bet - Betting on 4 numbers by placing a chip at the center of the 4 number block that you wish to bet on. A $10 bet returns $80 if one of the numbers hits.

Street Bet - Betting on a row of 3 numbers, such as 1,2 and 3. A $10 bet in this case returns$110.

Special Line Bet - this bet is made by placing a chip on 00, 0, 1, 2 and 3. A $10 bet returns $60.


Outside Bets:

Dozens - In this bet, you are betting whether the number 1-12, 13-24 or 25-36 will land. For instance, if you place a bet on the 1-12 dozen and 7 lands, your $10 bet would return $20.

Odd or Even - As easy as it sounds. If you believe that an odd number will land, you would place a bet on the Odd zone in the outside part of the table. A $10 bet would return $10, plus your original betting amount back.

Red or Black - You either bet on a red number to land, or a black number. The same payoff as an odd or even bet, even money. So a $10 bet would return you $10.

Column Bet - Similar to a Dozen bet, in that you are betting on one of a group of numbers to land. Refer to the diagram above of the number placement, and you can see that there are three columns of numbers. The payout is the same as a Dozen bet, 2 to 1.

High / Low Number - Another even money bet similar to odd/even or red/black, in this case, low numbers refer to 1-18 (excluding 0 and 00) and high numbers refer to 19-36. If you believe that a low number is going to show up, you would place a $10 bet on the Low. If any number under 19 showed up, you would win $10.

The idea behind roulette is a simple one there is however the complications arrive in the betting as there are several different ways to do it however the less the chance of the ball landing there the higher the payout. In a casino the chips are different to other games and each player has their own unique colour chips this stops any confusion about which bets are whose. The chips are normally received and cashed in at the roulette table. Types of bets
There are lots of different types of bets in the game of roulette indicated by the place of chips on the table they are however normally divided into two major groups. The first of these is Inside bets
These are called inside bets as they are laid on the area directly inside the layout the inside bets are

• Single Number (Pays 35 to 1)
  Is a bet on one single number (Also known as a straight bet) To bet this you place the chips in the centre of the square of the number you wish to bet on.
• Split Bet (Pays 17 to 1)
  Is a bet on two numbers. To bet this you place your chips on the line in between the two numbers you wish to bet on.
• Corner Bet (Pays 8 to 1)
  Is a bet on four numbers (Also known as a Square or Quarter Bet) To bet this you place your chips on the corner of the four numbers you wish to bet on. The chip should be placed on the intersection of horizontal and vertical line.
• Street Bet (Pays 11 to 1)
  Is a bet on three numbers. To bet this you place your chips on the edge of the layout for the numbers you wish to bet on ndicated by placing the chip on the line at the edge of the number layout on the row you wish to bet on.
• Special Line Bet (Pays 6 to 1)
  Is a bet made on five different numbers and can only be placed on the 00,0,1,2,3. To place this bet you put your chips on the edge of the number layout between the zero rows and the first row.
• Line Bet (Pays 5 to 1)
  Is a bet on six adjoining numbers. To bet this you place your chips on the line at the edge of the number layout straddling the two rows you wish to bet on.
