Bet Number Player
In order to become a master video poker player, there are a few things you need to know. The first is how to read a payout schedule, so you know the difference between short, partial play and full-pay versions. And second, you need to know the strategies for all the kinds of video poker games.
First we will discuss Pay Schedules, and once we’ve established everything you need to know about that topic, we’ll move onto Strategies for two challenging games, Deuces Wild and Joker's Wild.
PAY SCHEDULES
Typically, a 9/6 video poker game will hit the royal flush every 40,000 hands played, which is equivalent to approximately 80 to 100 hours of game time. Other games, such as the 8/5 will hit the royal flush every 45,000 hands, the 7/5's will hit each 50,000 hands, and the 6/5's will hit approximately every 70,000 hands played.
You should always bet the maximum number of coins that are allowed. For example, if you bet 5 coins, all winning hands are paid out multiplied by a factor of 5, except for the royal flush.
DEUCES WILD STRATEGIES
Full-pay Deuces Wild Versions will be 9/5's 9 coins for a straight flush and 5 coins for 4-of-a-kind.
You should not be reluctant to throw away your five cards. You want to make room for additional cards that could be deuces, and holding that Ace or King is not going to help you if the next hand coming up could be four or five sevens. This is why…
Most Jacks or Better players will throw away complete hands-5 cards only 3% of the time, while Deuces Wild players almost 20% of the time, which is approximately every fifth hand.
You should not keep two pairs. You should select one or the other, as 3-of-a-kind is the minimum scheduled payout. Inside straights should be held only if they present the best possible return from your initial five cards dealt. Therefore, a 5, 6, 8, 9 hand can produce a 7 or wild card in this video poker version.
Strategies for this game are determined by the number of deuces or absence of deuces that are dealt in your initial hand, and approximately every 5000 hands will hit four deuces. This is a secondary jackpot that will keep you in the game or allow you to pocket some winnings.
The excitement of all or nothing in Deuces makes it an awesome game to play. You can go for hours without seeing one Deuce, but then hit a Royal with Deuces, and four-of-a-kind is easy to get.
JOKER's WILD STRATEGIES
The full-pay Joker's Wild pay schedule will be 7/5 machines, 7 coins for a full house and 5 coins for a flush. There are two versions of the game out there: one returns money on a pair of Kings or better, while the other requires at least two pairs before there is a payout. This first game is obviously the more desirable full-pay version.
These strategies for Jokers, unlike Jacks, reflect the wild card, a 53-card deck, and the different payouts. If you do not hold the Joker, keep three cards to a royal over a pair of Aces or Kings because of the higher payout. You could catch another Ace or King and still be paid.
If three cards are consecutive cards for a straight flush, for example, the 5, 6, and 7 of hearts, discard other cards for the higher payback. If not consecutive, keep the small pair.
Don't be afraid to hold the Joker alone. More than 3% of the time, you won't be able to connect with a straight, flush, straight flush, or a high pair; however, holding the Joker only can give you four new cards, and a win.

Pass LineA pass line bet is a bet placed before the come out roll (i.e. the first roll of the dice in a new craps round) A wager on the pass line wins immediately if the come out roll is 7 or 11 (naturals), and loses if the come out roll is 2, 3, or 12 (craps numbers) If any other number (4,5, 6, 8, 9, or 10) is rolled, that number becomes "the point." If the shooter rolls the point again before rolling a 7, your pass line bet wins. If the shooter rolls a 7 before rolling the point again, your pass line bet loses. Don't Pass LineA don't pass line bet is essentially the reverse of a pass line bet, and is alsoplaced before the come out roll. If the shooter rolls 3 or 12 on the come outroll, a don't pass line bet wins immediately. If, however, the come out rollis 7 or 11, don't pass line bets lose. If the come out roll is 2, a don't passline bet is returned to the player in a push. If the come out roll is 4, 5, 6,8, 9, or 10, that number becomes the point. Once the point has been established, don't pass line bets win if the shooter rolls a 7 before rolling the point again. If the shooter rolls the point again before rolling a 7, don't pass line betslose. ComeA come bet is placed before any roll of the dice, once a point has been established by the come out roll. Come bets win immediately if the shooter's next roll is 7 or 11, and lose if the roll is 2, 3, or 12. If the shooter rolls 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10, that number becomes "the come point." If the shooter rolls the come point again before rolling a 7, the come bet wins. Don't ComeA don't come bet is essentially the opposite of a come bet. Don't come bets winimmediately when the shooter's next roll is 3 or 12, and lose if the roll is7 or 11. If the shooter rolls a 2, the bet will be returned to the player ina push. After the come point is established, don't come bets win if 7 is rolledand lose if the come point is rolled. OddsAn odds bet is a "back up" bet on an original pass line, don't pass line, come,or don't come bet. Gold Club allows odds bets of three times your original bets. FieldA field bet is a bet that the next roll of the dice will be either 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, or 12. Big Six and Big EightA big six bet is a bet that 6 will be rolled before 7. Likewise, a big eight bet is a bet that 8 will be rolled before 7. Place WinA place win bet is a bet that either 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 will be rolled before a seven. Place LoseA place lose bet is a bet that 7 will be rolled before either 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10. BuyA buy bet is a bet that either 4, 6, 8, 9, or 10 will be rolled before 7. A vigorish (vig.) of 5% is charged when placing the buy bet. LayA lay bet is a bet that 7 will be rolled before 4, 6, 8, 9, or 10. A 5% vig. is charged when placing the lay bet. Any 7An "any 7" bet is a bet that the next roll of the dice will be 7. Any 11An "any 11" bet is a bet that the next roll of the dice will be 11. Any Craps An "any craps" bet is a bet that the next roll of the dice will be 2, 3, or 12. Horn A horn bet is a bet that the next roll of the dice will be either 2, 3, 11, or 12. HardwayA hardway bet is a bet that the shooter will roll either a 4, 6, 8, or 10 as doubles (2+2, 3+3, 4+4, or 5+5) before rolling a 7. Rolling a number by doubles is said to be rolling the number "the hard way."

Roulette layouts do not vary in bets permitted, odds offered and percentages against the player so the following text covers all the common bets permitted on just about any layout. Straight Bet (or Single-Number Bet): The player places the chips squarely on one number on the layout, making certain that the chips do not touch any of the lines enclosing the number. This indicates that the player is betting that number to win. Since there are 36 numbers on the wheel, plus the signs 0 and 00, making a total of 38, the correct odds are 37 to 1. The bank pays off 35 to 1 and consequently has the advantage of 0 and 00. In terms of a percentage this is 2/38 of 100, or 5 5/19%. The signs 0 and 00: These can be played in the same fashion as any straight or single-number bet. The bank's favorable percentage is the same as on a straight bet (5 5/19%) Split bet or two-number bet: The player places the chips directly on any line separating any two numbers. If the winning number is one of the two wagered on, the player wins. Payoff odds: 17 to 1 | Correct odds: 18 to 1 | Percentage favoring the bank: 5 5/19% Street bet or three-number bet: The player places the chip(s) on the outside line of the layout. This indicates that he is betting the three numbers opposite the chips, going across the layout. If the winning number is one of these three, the player wins. Payoff odds: 11 to 1 | Correct odds: 11 2/3 to 1 | Percentage favoring the bank: 5 5/19% Square bet, quarter bet, corner bet or four-number bet: The player places the chip(s) on the intersection of the lines between any four numbers. If any of these four numbers wins, the player collects. Payoff odds: 8 to 1 | Correct odds: 8 1/2 to 1 | Percentage favoring the bank: 5 5/19% Line bet or five-number bet: The player places the chip(s) on the intersection of the line separating the 1, 2, 3 from the 0 and 00 spaces at a corner intersection. This indicates that he is betting that one of the numbers 1, 2, 3, or 0 or 00 will win. Payoff odds: 6 to 1 | Correct odds: 6 3/5 to 1 | Percentage favoring the bank: 7 7/19% Note that the house percentage differs from the 5 5/19%, which is the bank's edge on all other roulette bets. From the player's viewpoint, it is a bet to avoid because it has 2 12/19% more against the player. Line bet or six-number bet: The player places the chip(s) on the intersection of the sideline and a line between two 'streets'. If any of these six numbers wins, the player collects. Payoff odds: 5 to 1 | Correct odds: 5 1/3 to 1 | Percentage favoring the bank: 5 5/19% Column bet or 12-number bet: The player places the chip(s) on one of the three blank spaces at the bottom of the layout. This indicates that the player is betting the 12 vertical numbers above the space wagered on. Payoff odds: 2 to 1 | Correct odds: 2 1/6 to 1 | Percentage favoring the bank: 5 5/19% Dozens or 12-number bet: The player places the chip(s) on one of the spaces of the layout marked "1st 12", "2nd 12" or "3rd 12". The 1st 12 indicates that the player is betting on the numbers 1 to 12 inclusive; the 2nd 12, the numbers 13 to 24 inclusive, and the 3rd 12, the numbers 25 to 36 inclusive. Payoff odds: 2 to 1 | Correct odds: 2 1/6 to 1 | Percentage favoring the bank: 5 5/19% Low-number bet (1 to 18): The player places the chip(s) on the layout space marked 1 to 18, which indicates that he's betting on the numbers 1 to 18 inclusive. Payoff odds: Even money | Correct odds: 1 1/9 to 1 | Percentage favoring the bank: 5 5/19% High-number bet (19 to 36): The player places the chip(s) on the layout space marked 19 to 36, which indicates that he's betting on the numbers 19 to 36 inclusive. Payoff odds: Even money | Correct odds: 1 1/9 to 1 | Percentage favoring the bank: 5 5/19% Black color bet: The player places the chip(s) on a space of the layout marked "Black". The player is betting that the winning color will be black. Payoff odds: Even money | Correct odds: 1 1/9 to 1 | Percentage favoring the bank: 5 5/19% Red color bet: The player places the chip(s) on a space of the layout marked "Red". The player is betting that the winning color will be red. Payoff odds: Even money | Correct odds: 1 1/9 to 1 | Percentage favoring the bank: 5 5/19% Odd-number bet: The player places the chip(s) on the space of the layout marked "Odd". The player is betting that the winning number will be an odd number. Payoff odds: Even money | Correct odds: 1 1/9 to 1 | Percentage favoring the bank: 5 5/19% Even-number bet: This is the same as the odd-number bet, except that the player is betting that the winning number will be even.

- As an intelligent roulette player, you will try to make a series of predetermined bets rather than betting "all over the table". Always try to be consistent in your betting system
- Part of the pleasure of roulette is to bet on your own or your loved ones' birth dates, dates of significance, athletes' jersey numbers, number of days that you've been married or any other lucky digits. Make sure you reserve some time and money for those special bets. After all, it can't be all about the money, and you just might get lucky!
- Playing American roulette is not a terrific option. The standard house edge for American roulette is much higher than for French/European roulette, so it suits you to try and find a single zero roulette wheel (if available)
- The modern roulette wheel is completely random, and a so-called streak can begin and end on any one number. Just about anyone that thinks they can predict the next series of numbers exactly is being quite foolish
- Practice smart money management. Ensure that you have a decent enough bankroll to carry you through whatever losing streaks you may experience from time to time
