Texas hold'em poker can be played between as few as two players, but more commonly you will find tables of 9 or 10 players. One player at the table is designated as dealer and a dealer button indicates this position. Game play starts to the left of this dealer and will move clockwise around the table. At the completion of each hand the button or dealer also moves clockwise around the table.

Prior to dealing the two players to the left of the dealer ante chips to sweeten the pot and keep the game moving. These players and their ante are referred to as the blinds. The first one is the small blind the second is the big blind. The small blind is ½ of the big blind and the big blind will be equal to the minimum bet.

To start the hand each player is dealt two cards face down. These cards called the hole cards are private to each player. Each player then looks at his or her two cards and calls, bets, raises, checks, or folds according to their hand strength. If a player raises the following players must then match that raise by calling the raise or folding.

After this round of betting has been completed the dealer will burn a card or remove a card from play then deal three community cards face up. These cards are referred to as the flop and each player may use them in the creation of their best 5 cards. Another round of wagering ensues.

The dealer then burns another card and deals one more community card face up. This card is referred to as the turn or 4th street. After this another round of wagering ensues.

If multiple players still remain the dealer then burns another card and deals one final community card face up. This card is referred to as the river or 5th street. After this another round of wagering ensues. After this final card the player with the best possible hand constructed of the seven available wins the money in the pot.

Pai Gow Poker is a variation of the Chinese domino game gai gow. Pai gow poker is played with a 53 card deck, including a joker. Pai Gow Poker is played one on one, the player against the dealer, each competing to make the best possible hands. After placing an initial bet, both player and dealer receive seven cards. The object of the game is for the player to split (or set) the seven dealt cards into two hands - a five-card High hand, and a two-card Low hand. The cards must be set in such a way that the five-card hand has a higher poker rank than the two-card hand. For example, the player's hand is: 6,7,8,9,10,A,A. The player sets the pair of Aces as the Low hand, and 6,7,8,9,10 (straight) as the High hand. The dealer's hand is: 2,2,2,A,K,4,5. The dealer sets the Ace and King as the Low hand, and 2,2,2,4,5 (three of a kind) as the High hand. The player beats both the dealer's High and Low hands, thus winning the round. The hands are ranked according to standard poker rules, with the exception that an A-2-3-4-5 straight is the second highest straight after A-K-Q-J-10. The only real difference between Pai Gow Poker hand ranks and standard poker hand ranks is that a five-Aces hand (four Aces and a Joker) beats a royal flush, and it is the highest hand in the game. After the player finished arranging his/her hands, the dealer arranges his/her hands according to a set of fixed rules (the House Way) The player's two hands (High and Low) are then compared with the dealer's two hands (High and Low) to determine the winner. In order to win, both the player's High and Low hands must have a higher poker rank than both the dealer's High and Low hands (according to the Pai Gow Poker Hand Ranks table)

The "Player" hand and the"Banker" hand are drawn from 8 standard 52-card decks that have beenshuffled together and placed in the "Shoe." Cards one and three go tothe "Player" hand while cards two and four make up the"Banker" hand. Each hand starts with a minimum of two cards and cannever have more than three cards. Traditionally, one of the participants at thetable deals the cards. Dealing, however, is optional and a player may choose topass the cards along to another. The winning hand is the hand that adds up to orcomes closest to a total of 9 points. Participants win even money (i.e doublethere original bet) when the "Player" hand wins. Those who bet the"Bank" win even money, as well. However, there is a 5% commissioncharged on winning "Banker" bets. The "Bank" has a slightadvantage in the way that the cards are drawn, therefore, this commission ischarged. Players can also bet on a "Tie" game that generally pays out8:1.

Street Bet or Three Number

Also called a street bet or a stream bet. This is when you are betting that one of threenumbers hits on the roulette wheel. The payoff for a bet like this is 11 to 1. So ifyou bet $10 and bet on either 13, 14, or 15 to hit, you would win $110 if any of thethree hit.

Square Bet

Otherwise known as a Four-Number bet. Like a three number bet, this is whenyou are hoping that one of 4 numbers that you bet on hits. The payoff on a betlike this is 8 to 1. For example, if you bet $4 on the numbers 22, 23, 24 and 25,then you would win $32 if the roulette ball landed on any of the four numbers.

Five-Number Bet

This is betting that one of these 5 numbers will hit: 0, 00, 1, 2 or 3. The payofffor this bet is 6 to 1, and can only be played on an American wheel. So if youbet $6 and one of them hit, you would win $36. This is a very poor bet andshould be avoided at all costs.

Outside Bets

These are bets that are placed outside the number grid, for instance,betting onRed or Black. You will find these bets on the part of the table closest to theplayer.

Red

Simply betting that the next spin lands on a red-colored number. The payoff forthis bet is 1-1, so if you bet $10 on red and the ball lands on a red number, youwould win your original $10 back, plus an additional $10 in winnings.
