Card Pair

Leung's version of the game differed slightly from the one we know and enjoy nowadays. Instead of using the numbers 1 through 80 on the ticket, each field was represented with a character, all of which were taken from the famous poem 'The Thousand Character Classic'. Many years ago, the poem was used as a means of teaching children reading and writing skills. The fact that not one of the thousand characters was mentioned more than once was recognized as a great achievement. The characters were organized in a way that rhymed and made the poem easier to remember but being able to recite it on your own was a skill in itself. The poem was so popular throughout China that some people used it as a way of counting from one to a thousand. So, having used the first 80 characters from the poem, Leung did in fact use one through eighty as they are represented today. The history of keno in North America started with the Chinese immigrants who worked on the railroads. As part of their customs and individuality, they brought the game over to keep themselves entertained and to carry on some of their Chinese traditions. At first, the game was illegal because of the anti-gambling laws; still, it was very popular among the Chinese immigrants, where it was known as Chinese lottery. When the country legalized most types of gambling in 1931 though still not lotteries, the name was simply changed to 'horse race keno', suggesting that the numbers were horses and you were betting on the one that would come in. The game's association with horse racing earned it the name 'racing game', which is still largely used among keno operators today. A few years later, the American government decided to tax off-track betting, so the name was changed once again to offer a better profit. And that's how the game got its name - Keno.

Blackjack Terms Blackjack means any combination of your first two cards that total 21 To ask the dealer to Hit on a hand, is to ask for another card. When the player tells the dealer they want to Stand , they are telling him that they don't want any more cards. If the player has been dealt a pair, they are able to Split the pair, and play 2 separate hands at the same time. (Some house rules will not allow you to split Aces, or Aces more than once) Hard hand is when the ace can only be counted as 1. When a player Doubles Down , they are doubling their bet and asking the dealer for ONLY one more card. Regardless of what the card is, the player must stand after doubling down. The player is given the choice of asking for Insurance , if the dealer has been dealt an "A" face up. By asking for Insurance, the player is making a side-bet that the down-card could be a 10 point card, giving the dealer 21. It has been stated many times, that Insurance is a "sucker bet" and to NEVER make this bet. Surrender is the only play at the blackjack table that requires a "verbal" response. If the player is dealt a hand that looks particularly dismal, they can surrender half the bet and end their play. This is also referred to as a "sucker bet", and some casinos don't even recognize it.(There are a few instances that a very skilled card counter can use this bet to their advantage) . A push or tie occurs when the total of your cards are the same as the dealers without going over 21. You do lose and you can change your bet on the next hand. Soft hand is when the ace can be counted as 1 or 11

Pair
A single pair is the second lowest hand. This is when two cards have matched numerical value ace-ace being the highest hand two-two the lowest. If there are equal pairs when comparing hands then you compare the high cards of the matched hands.

Two Pair
Two Pair is two cards of the same rank with two cards of a different rank. A pair of aces with a pair of kings is the highest two pair if the highest pair are equal when comparing hands then the low pair is matched if that is the same then the single card decides.

Three of a Kind
Three of a kind is three cards of the same rank plus two other cards. When comparing hands the highest three set wins so A-A-A (the highest) beats all other Three of a kinds. This hand is also known as a set of trips.

Straight
A straight is five cards in a numerical sequence 2-3-4-5-6, these cards can be of any suit. When comparing hands the highest card wins so A-K-Q-J-10 is the highest possible straight. An ace can be low or high but not in the middle, so A-2-3-4-5 is ok but Q-K-A-2-3 is not.

The Gaming Club is somewhat of a trend-setter, they were the first casino to grace the internet and they have been leading the field since 1997. With a stock of games that is only just short of being the most we have ever seen available at an online casino, there is somethiing for everyone at the Gaming Club. It is very easy to go on and on about this casino, they have an impeccable record with fast payouts and a security system to rival Fort Knox!!

However, although the Gaming Club is undoubtedly a very good casino, we found that we were unable to get particularly excited about it. For such an established casino we thought that it was a bit cheap of them to use the standard Microgaming graphics, interface and sounds. When a casino has as good a pedigree as the Gaming Club we like to see them strive to take it further. To some extent they have done this by offering an increadible amount of games and providing a back-office that is always able to deliver the goods, so you never have to worry about whether you'll ever see your withdrawal. we just hoped that the Gaming Club would come up with something a bit sexier, an innovation to drive the industry along.

It might be unfair of us to expect so much from them and it is probably true that we are using a higher benchmark for the Gaming Club than we do for most casinos. In relation to its rivals the Gaming Club really is in front. We only grumble because we have come to expect so much from this casino, we don't want to see it go stagnant! For this reason the gaming club can not receive a rating of 10, but rest assured as soon as they announce their big step forward (which we're sure they will), they'll go straight to the top of the class.
