Play Roulette
Everyone is looking for a great place to play roulette online. Who offers the best odds, who offers the funniest game, who lets me chat while I play? These are all common questions, so I thought I would put up a page explaining some of the basics. Most online casinos who have existed for a few years are going to share the same odds on roulette as the real wheel dictates. You may find when you step up to play roulette that some casinos are only offering double zero roulette. Fear not, it shouldn't take you too long to find a single zero roulette game at a different casino. Some of you may not be interested in finding the best place to play roulette for real money, but are simply looking for a game you can play online for free. As a matter of fact, roulette-info.net offers just such a game to play on. Our free roulette game is one of the best on the net simply because it is well made, with great graphics, and it has loads of extras. You can chat with friends while you play, and there is built in bankroll management that lasts across sessions, so you can play roulette for free on our site, all the while testing your strategies and systems preparing for real money play. Roulette software comes in a variety of types with various features. Here we'll take a look at the different styles of software you may encounter, what features to look for, and how to know what is best for you. The first thing you need to decide is if you want to download roulette software to your home PC, or if you want to play through the Internet using a browser plug-in such as Shockwave or Flash. Downloadable roulette software lets you play offline, a bonus for those of us without high-speed Internet access or an unlimited account. In-browser games offer other unique features, such as the ability to play with other people, or to accumulate points and trade them in for prizes. When looking at browser based roulette software, try to find one that offers a bankroll that stays with you across sessions. This style of software is your smartest choice, as it will let you improve your game with practice. Without a real bankroll you can't truly tell if your strategy is working for you. Real money roulette software is a newer and very different form of the game. This software is most often a download package, but one which you need to be online to play, as the game connects to a central casino server when it starts up. This software is actually just a gateway into the game, which takes place on the server computer of the online casino. Real money roulette software allows you to play and win real cash from your home, so if you are a roulette fan and can't get enough, you should try playing online. Before Nevada legalized gambling in 1931, methods for cheating the patrons were commonly employed. Illegal gambling (along with other illicit activities) was prevalent in Vegas since the turn of the century. Special or modified rulete wheels were part of the action. Many of these rigged or gaffed wheels remained in operation for several years after 1931. Once the new gaming commission was established and put into power, these wheels found their way over to off-the-beaten-path places and illegal out-of-state operations. As the commission developed some teeth in their bite, casino cheating ceased to exist in Nevada. These gaming commissions can stroll up unannounced, confiscate any gaming equipment as they see fit and take it back to their labs for a thorough inspection. The casinos do not want to risk losing their gaming license. Today, in Nevada or Atlantic City, you wont find any gaffed or juiced wheels out on the casino floors. But any gaming establishment operating where gambling is illegal is already breaking the law and has no license to lose. Be advised, you are probably being cheated in some way. Even in places where gambling is legal, but there is no strong regulatory agency, be wary! I have included several of the more common modes of cheating. Most of these are antiquated. The winner in this competition is European Roulette, which has half the house edge of the American counterparts, and, with a certain rule in effect, that (lower) edge can be cut in half yet again. But we are not without hope, for many of the online casinos offer the European version, although the ones with the wagering options printed in French may take some getting used to. And, there are some casinos in the U.S. which offer European Roulette, but these usually have very high bet minimums. One exception to this is the Monte Carlo casino in Las Vegas, which offers European Roulette with $10 minimums during non-peak periods. The house advantage for American Roulette is 5.26%; for the European version 2.70%, and if the latter has the En Prison rule, that edge is reduced to a very respectable 1.35%. This rule allows you either to surrender half your wager, or leave it there for the next spin. (Your wager is in fact held captive) European Roulette, with En Prison is very popular in Europe with systems players, for its leisurely pace and low edge are very appealing. The American version generally moves faster, which is another drawback that compounds the penalty of the higher edge, for it compels players to react faster, to the benefit of the house. But the American versions are not beyond redemption; I just want to stress the importance of seeking out the European version when circumstances allow. Terminology of European roulette This is a short list of simple to remember, and easy to follow roulette tips. The fact is, there are no roulette tips that will make you a bundle, but there are some that may keep you from losing one. Tip 1 - Never follow anybody's system. Even reputable names in the online gambling industry recommend you spread your bets around with a 'system' that makes no sense. Umm, ok let me just place the black and third column, so that if I win on one I will most likely lose the other. I'm sure they've convinced a million people to play though, because look at how few numbers could cause you to lose completely! That was sarcasm, subtle, but sarcasm. Spurious logic spouters, never listen to them.Tip 2 - Look hard for a single zero roulette wheel. This will cut the house edge much more than any other option in the game of roulette.Tip 3 - No matter how appealing a new and sexy bet might feel, never bet the five number bet, it has the worst odds on the table.Tip 4 - Search for casinos that offer the surrender rule. This will cut the house edge almost as much as a single zero roulette wheel will, but only on even-money outside bets.Tip 5 - No really, no systems.Tip 6 - Don't spend your time looking for a biased roulette wheel. Although this may have been a valid methodology a couple of decades ago, any casino worth it's chandeliers checks it's own roulette wheels for biases.
