Player Bet Roulette

To correctly guess which number will hit after the ball lands in one of the slots. There are many different types of bets in roulette, with different payouts; everything from a straight up bet at 35/1 odds to a bet on black/red at 1/1 odds.

Betting

Before you begin betting at the roulette table, you must purchase special roulette chips which are of different color. If there are 7 people playing at a table, there will be seven different colors of chips. This is so that the dealer knows who bet on what and can keep the payments straight. The dealer will normally give the players 60 seconds to put their bets down, and players can still lay down bets when the ball is moving and not dropped into one of the slots. When a player leaves the table, they can cash in the roulette chips for regular chips.

There are two different types of bets in roulette: inside bets and outside bets. Inside bets are made on the layout, or number grid. For instance, if you wanted to bet on a 4 landing on the next spin of the wheel, you would place an inside bet. An outside bet takes part on the outside of the table, outside of the layout. These types of bets include red/black, high number / low number and even/odd bets.

The numbers on the layout are laid out like this:

0
00
1 4 7 10 13 16 19 22 25 28 31 34
2 5 8 11 14 17 20 23 26 29 32 35
3 6 9 12 15 18 21 24 27 30 33 36

The Inside Bets are:

Straight Up Bet - betting on a single number. For instance, you place a chip on 20 and the ball lands in the 20 slot. Your $10 bet returns $350 in this case.

Split Bet - Betting on two numbers by placing a chip on the line separating two different numbers. For instance, you could place a split bet on 31 and 34. If either number hits, your $10 bet returns $170.

Corner Bet - Betting on 4 numbers by placing a chip at the center of the 4 number block that you wish to bet on. A $10 bet returns $80 if one of the numbers hits.

Street Bet - Betting on a row of 3 numbers, such as 1,2 and 3. A $10 bet in this case returns$110.

Special Line Bet - this bet is made by placing a chip on 00, 0, 1, 2 and 3. A $10 bet returns $60.

Outside Bets:

Dozens - In this bet, you are betting whether the number 1-12, 13-24 or 25-36 will land. For instance, if you place a bet on the 1-12 dozen and 7 lands, your $10 bet would return $20.

Odd or Even - As easy as it sounds. If you believe that an odd number will land, you would place a bet on the Odd zone in the outside part of the table. A $10 bet would return $10, plus your original betting amount back.

Red or Black - You either bet on a red number to land, or a black number. The same payoff as an odd or even bet, even money. So a $10 bet would return you $10.

Column Bet - Similar to a Dozen bet, in that you are betting on one of a group of numbers to land. Refer to the diagram above of the number placement, and you can see that there are three columns of numbers. The payout is the same as a Dozen bet, 2 to 1.

High / Low Number - Another even money bet similar to odd/even or red/black, in this case, low numbers refer to 1-18 (excluding 0 and 00) and high numbers refer to 19-36. If you believe that a low number is going to show up, you would place a $10 bet on the Low. If any number under 19 showed up, you would win $10.

Roulette is said by some to have been started or invented way back in 1655 by the French scientist Blaise Pascal, during his monastic retreat, and first played in a makeshift casino in Paris. Other historians claim however that a French monk invented it in order to help break some of the monotony of daily monastery life. Still others say it originated in an old Chinese game whose object was to arrange 37 statuettes of animals in a "magic square" of 666 (but they fail to describe the method of play) They add that the game was later played in Tibet, and eventually by French Dominican monks. One of these monks is said to have transposed the statuettes into numbers from 0 to 36, and arranged them haphazardly along the rim of a revolving wheel. Since the early French roulette wheels of the 1800s had both the 0 and 00, this theory does not sound plausible. The history of roulette thus remains a bit shrouded in mystery. Claims and counter-claims over the years have not helped to solve many of the riddles and missing links surrounding the game, and undoubtedly, the true origin of the game will remain a mystery forever. The modern version of the Roulette wheel did not appear until around 1842 when Frenchmen Francois and Louis Blanc are said to have invented the single "0" roulette game. Eventually, the game was brought to America. However, the single "0" modification was rejected in the United States and roulette history was altered forever with American roulette wheels being made standard with the two zeros "00". Although both the double zero and single zero wheels originated in France, the double zero became known as the "American Wheel," because it was accepted with open arms and survived in the states. The popularity of the single zero wheel had supplanted the double zero wheels in Europe and consequently was dubbed the "French Wheel." Roulette is the oldest casino game still in existence today.

Blackjack Terms Blackjack means any combination of your first two cards that total 21 To ask the dealer to Hit on a hand, is to ask for another card. When the player tells the dealer they want to Stand , they are telling him that they don't want any more cards. If the player has been dealt a pair, they are able to Split the pair, and play 2 separate hands at the same time. (Some house rules will not allow you to split Aces, or Aces more than once) Hard hand is when the ace can only be counted as 1. When a player Doubles Down , they are doubling their bet and asking the dealer for ONLY one more card. Regardless of what the card is, the player must stand after doubling down. The player is given the choice of asking for Insurance , if the dealer has been dealt an "A" face up. By asking for Insurance, the player is making a side-bet that the down-card could be a 10 point card, giving the dealer 21. It has been stated many times, that Insurance is a "sucker bet" and to NEVER make this bet. Surrender is the only play at the blackjack table that requires a "verbal" response. If the player is dealt a hand that looks particularly dismal, they can surrender half the bet and end their play. This is also referred to as a "sucker bet", and some casinos don't even recognize it.(There are a few instances that a very skilled card counter can use this bet to their advantage) . A push or tie occurs when the total of your cards are the same as the dealers without going over 21. You do lose and you can change your bet on the next hand. Soft hand is when the ace can be counted as 1 or 11

There are lots of different versions of poker but most have a lot of similarities the first is the object of the game. Which is to win the centre pot of money. Poker is Played with a communal pot and the pot contains all money contributed during a hand, including antes which are used to seed the pot before each hand begins.

All poker games consist of 52 cards from four different suits, which are clubs, hearts, diamonds and spades of thirteen cards each. The thirteen cards rank from lowest to highest as 2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10 then jack, queen, king, ace (in many variations ace can also rank as the lowest card)

A poker hand begins with the dealer dealing out cards to each player (the amount varies with the type of poker being played) The game moves round clock-wise from the dealer the first player has two options check (also known as pass equivalent to a bet of $0) or bet. The second player can either call (a nonzero bet that matches the previous bet), check (a zero bet that can only be done if there were no previous bets on the table), bet or raise (a non-zero bet that all successive players must match) or to fold which is done when the player does not wish to match the previous bets made. A player that folds forfeits their interest in the pot. Betting proceeds until either all bets have been called or all but one player has folded. The poker rules for the specific game may limit the number of raises allowed. However if only two players are in the pot they can keep raising each other indefinitely. At the end of the last betting round, all players who are left in the hand have a showdown in which the player with the best hand is awarded the pot. It is normally the player who made the last bet or raise to show his hand first in the showdown. The other remaining players then show their hands in a clockwise fashion. Players that have folded do not need to show their hands, players that know they are beaten can just concede the pot. Very often a hand won't reach the showdown stage as all the other players fold before it reaches that stage.

If two hands are exactly equal with all five cards matching then it is a tie with the pot being split evenly among the winning hands. Suits are not used to distinguish between the hands.
