The winner in this competition is European Roulette, which has half the house edge of the American counterparts, and, with a certain rule in effect, that (lower) edge can be cut in half yet again. But we are not without hope, for many of the online casinos offer the European version, although the ones with the wagering options printed in French may take some getting used to. And, there are some casinos in the U.S. which offer European Roulette, but these usually have very high bet minimums. One exception to this is the Monte Carlo casino in Las Vegas, which offers European Roulette with $10 minimums during non-peak periods. The house advantage for American Roulette is 5.26%; for the European version 2.70%, and if the latter has the En Prison rule, that edge is reduced to a very respectable 1.35%. This rule allows you either to surrender half your wager, or leave it there for the next spin. (Your wager is in fact held captive) European Roulette, with En Prison is very popular in Europe with systems players, for its leisurely pace and low edge are very appealing. The American version generally moves faster, which is another drawback that compounds the penalty of the higher edge, for it compels players to react faster, to the benefit of the house. But the American versions are not beyond redemption; I just want to stress the importance of seeking out the European version when circumstances allow. Terminology of European roulette
French-style (European) Roulette, is the version played on many cruise ships, in most casinos in Europe, and in a small but growing number of gaming establishments in the United States. If you find yourself playing at one of these tables, expect to find French terms on the table layout and French words being spoken by the croupiers. French terms for roulette bets and other common expressions in this game are found below.

Roulette offers a wide variety of bets and betting options. The process of roulette betting is not a complicated one, and fortunately, unlike craps, you are given a good length of time at the table to choose where you want to lay your money down. Two types of betting you can practice at the wheel are called the outside bets and the inside bets. You are required to play the table minimum at least on each of your outside bets; on inside roulette betting the total of all of your bets must meet or exceed the table minimum. This bit of information is all you need to know in order to delve right into some roulette betting action. Lets start by describing each bet and how/where you play it. Roulette betting - outside bets
The outside bets on a roulette board are simply the bets that reside 'outside' of the main playing area of 38 numbers. There are no winning outside bets for 0 or 00 results. Different types of outside bets: Red or Black - you can choose to bet on the outcome either being a red number, or a black number. Place this bet right in the area with the words 'red' or 'black' in them, which should be easy to reach from beside the table. This is a very common form of roulette betting, as it is easy to understand that you have almost half a chance of winning. People often make the bet making the incorrect assumption that if 5 blacks were spun, there is a better than 50% chance the sixth spin will be red. This is not logical and the reason why is described in more detail on our

The pleasure of roulette gambling can only be beat by one thing… the thrill of winning. The motivation to play is lost on many gambling fans, as they don't comprehend the hectic and open nature of the game. Many blackjack players prefer to not dabble in roulette, not for fear of a house edge they cannot alter, but mainly because they don't truly enjoy the chance that makes gambling thrilling. Roulette gambling is a symbol of gaming worldwide, for a simple reason. Roulette embodies what chance is; the marble around the wheel, the finite possibilities, the random result. Roulette fans enjoy the pure chance, and being able to see that chance in front of them is part of the fun. The math behind the game is fairly straightforward, and people can see clearly the chances they have of winning. This makes it easy to experiment with different strategies and combinations of bets. The best way to test out any hunches you have though is with a game that lets you play without putting your money at risk. We offer great roulette gambling, all for free, with an in-browser shockwave game. It includes bankroll tracking and a chat feature built in. The object of the game is to throw a 7 or 11, which are winning throws and avoid throwing 2,3 or 12, which are losing throws. The shooter must establish a point number; point numbers are the numbers 4,5,6,8,9 or 10 when one of these numbers is thrown then a point has been established and the shooter plays against this number and if they get point before hitting a seven then they win. Any player can bet on the throw of the dice and can either bet on the shooter or on the house.
